Sun Protection
Why SPF 50 isn't enough for Pakistan's UV index
SPF 50 in Pakistan can perform very differently outside the laboratory. Ratings are measured at 2mg per square centimetre of skin, while most people apply less. In periods of high UV exposure, that application gap matters.

The application gap
Studies consistently find people apply between a quarter and half of the tested dose. Protection does not scale linearly. A thinly applied SPF 50 can behave closer to SPF 15.
Starting from SPF 100 preserves a useful margin when real-world application is thin.
“The SPF on the label only describes the protection delivered at the tested application amount.”
UVA does not care about the weather
UVA levels stay comparatively steady through cloud cover and pass through window glass. This is the wavelength that drives photoaging and melasma.
That is what the PA++++ rating on WIN-T addresses: UVB and UVA are separate problems with separate ratings.
What daily protection looks like here
Apply as the final morning step, 15 minutes before going out. Reapply every 3–4 hours in direct sun.
Indoors near a window still counts as exposure. Daily means daily.
Common questions
What readers usually ask
Why can real-world SPF be lower than the label?
SPF is tested at a set application amount. Applying a thinner layer reduces the protection delivered on skin.
Does UVA exposure continue through windows?
UVA can pass through ordinary window glass, so daily protection remains relevant when you spend time close to bright windows.
